How ez-learn collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information when you use the service.

Last updated: November 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ez-learn collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information when you use ez-learn.app and related ez-learn services. If you have questions, contact us at contact@ez-learn.app.

Who We Are

The data controller responsible for your personal information is:

ez-learn
Email: contact@ez-learn.app

Information We Collect

Information you provide

Depending on how you use ez-learn, we may collect:

  • Your email address and account credentials.
  • Information needed to manage your account.
  • Books and documents you upload, currently supported as PDF files.
  • The reading pages identified for your book or selected by you, and your chosen study language.
  • Learning materials created from your books, such as key ideas, summaries, questions, concepts, and knowledge maps.
  • Your answers, reading progress, question attempts and timing, short-check and final-exam results, retake history, and practice and review activity.
  • Support requests and other communications you send to us.
  • Subscription, payment, and transaction information.

We do not store your complete payment-card details. Payments are processed by Stripe, which handles payment information according to its own privacy policy.

If you use guest access, your book and progress are associated with a guest session before account creation. When you convert that session to an account, the service can preserve your book and progress.

Technical and security information

When you use ez-learn, we may automatically receive limited technical information, such as:

  • IP address.
  • Browser, device, and operating-system information.
  • Login and session information.
  • Dates and times of requests.
  • Basic service activity and error information.
  • Information needed to detect abuse, fraud, or security problems.

Product analytics

We use PostHog to understand how visitors use our public pages and learning features, identify problems, and improve the service. Analytics may include pages visited, referring sites and campaign information, browser and device information, feature use, study-language choices, and milestones such as uploading a book, completing a reading section, answering a question, or finishing an assessment.

Analytics uses browser and session identifiers. When you register or sign in, activity can be linked to your internal user ID; some learning events also include internal book IDs, counts, or whether an answer was correct. These records are not necessarily anonymous.

Our frontend analytics is configured not to send book text, filenames, question text, submitted answers, email addresses, passwords, authentication tokens, or full payment-card details. Automatic interaction capture and session recordings are disabled. This is separate from processing the content needed to provide your learning features.

We do not use interest-based advertising. More information about the analytics provider is available in PostHog’s Privacy Policy.

Information processed through AI features

When you use features that create learning materials, relevant book content and your instructions may be sent to an AI processing provider. Depending on availability, these providers may include OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Qwen.

AI providers process this information only to provide the requested service. ez-learn uses API arrangements under which submitted data is not used to train those providers’ general-purpose models. AI providers may nevertheless process or temporarily retain information as necessary to operate, secure, and provide their services under their applicable terms.

Please do not upload information that you are not authorized to use or that you do not want processed for these purposes.

Content You Upload

You represent that you own, control, or otherwise have permission to upload the books and documents you submit to ez-learn. You must not upload pirated, unlawfully obtained, or infringing material.

Your uploaded books, generated learning materials, answers, progress information, and other private content are associated with your account or guest session. ez-learn does not provide a platform for sharing these materials with other users. Your content is not made publicly available through ez-learn.

We process your content only as necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the ez-learn service, comply with law, and enforce our terms.

How We Use Information

We may use personal information to:

  • Create and maintain your ez-learn account.
  • Process your PDF, identify reading content, and prepare guided reading, questions, concepts, knowledge maps, and study materials in your chosen study language.
  • Provide short checks, final exams and retakes, maintenance checks, practice, and reviews when available.
  • Save your progress, assessment results, and retake history, and personalize your learning experience.
  • Understand use of the website and learning features through product analytics.
  • Process subscriptions, payments, credits, refunds, and related transactions.
  • Send account, security, billing, and service-related messages.
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Protect ez-learn against fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and security incidents.
  • Diagnose errors and maintain service reliability.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
  • Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
  • Create aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you.

We do not sell your personal information or use your private learning content for targeted advertising.

When We Share Information

We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate ez-learn, including providers for:

  • Cloud hosting and storage, which may include Amazon Web Services.
  • Payment processing, including Stripe.
  • Transactional email delivery through SMTP or email infrastructure providers.
  • AI-powered processing, including OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Qwen.
  • Product analytics through PostHog.
  • Security, fraud prevention, and technical operations.

These providers may access information only as needed to perform services for us and must handle it according to applicable contractual and legal requirements.

We may also disclose information:

  • When required by law, court order, or governmental request.
  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of ez-learn, our users, or others.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of business assets.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

We do not share your books, generated learning materials, questions, answers, or progress with other users.

If you choose to follow an external community link, such as our Discord invitation, that service handles your activity under its own terms and privacy policy. Information you post there may be visible to other community members. We do not automatically publish your private learning content to that community.

International Data Transfers

Because ez-learn is available globally and uses service providers that may operate in different countries, your information may be processed outside the European Economic Area.

Where required, we use appropriate legal safeguards for international transfers, such as an adequacy decision, Standard Contractual Clauses, or another legally recognized transfer mechanism.

How Long We Keep Information

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.

If you delete your account, we will begin deleting your account information and associated user content from our active systems without undue delay.

Some limited information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups or be retained where necessary to:

  • Comply with legal, tax, or accounting requirements.
  • Prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Resolve disputes.
  • Enforce our agreements.
  • Protect the security of ez-learn and its users.

Payment and transaction records may also be retained by Stripe or as required by law.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and should notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

ez-learn uses cookies, local storage, and session storage for functions such as:

  • Account login and session management.
  • Security and fraud prevention.
  • Basic service functionality.
  • Remembering your display preferences, dismissed helpers, and reading context.
  • Restoring guest sessions and supported learning interactions.

PostHog also uses first-party cookies and local storage for analytics identifiers and session information. A shared analytics cookie can connect visits between our public website and app subdomains. We do not use advertising cookies.

Analytics is on by default unless you have saved a choice to decline it. The notice lets you accept this setting or decline to turn analytics off. You can change your choice at any time using in the footer or here. Declining does not prevent you from using the learning features. Your choice is remembered for up to six months in a preference cookie shared across our public and app subdomains where supported. If you decline, we stop collecting new analytics events and clear analytics storage on this browser origin; this does not delete records already received by the analytics provider.

You can manage cookies and site storage through your browser settings. Blocking or clearing storage may affect sign-in, saved preferences, guest-session access, and continuity of your experience.

Marketing Communications

We currently primarily send service-related communications, such as account, security, billing, and support messages.

If we send marketing communications in the future, you may unsubscribe using the link in the message or by contacting us at contact@ez-learn.app. Unsubscribing from marketing communications will not stop essential service messages.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Ask whether we process your personal information.
  • Request access to your personal information.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your information.
  • Request restriction of processing.
  • Object to certain processing.
  • Request portability of information you provided to us.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Complain to a data protection authority.

To make a request, contact contact@ez-learn.app. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

For users in the European Economic Area, you may also contact the competent data protection authority in your country.

Children

ez-learn is intended for users aged 14 or older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at contact@ez-learn.app, and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Local laws may impose a higher minimum age or require parental consent. Where applicable, those requirements continue to apply.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.

The updated Policy becomes effective when published on ez-learn unless stated otherwise.
